The PlainLanguage.gov initiative, sponsored by the Plain Language Action and Information Network, promotes the use of plain language for all government communications. The site provides some excellent examples of communication improvements made by several U.S. government agencies. One of our favorites, Car Safety illustrates “how the plain language concept, applied visually, can convey important safety information more effectively than words.” Take a look at the before and after examples, as well as the humor page, which includes non-governmental examples.
